The Tony Hawk Foundation’s mission is to to bring free, quality public skateparks to youth in low-income areas across the United States. A highlight of the day was the Pledge Drive for a skatepark project in the Watts district of Los Angeles.
The Tony Hawk Foundation joined with California Skateparks, Wasserman Media Group and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn to launch the project at the event with a fundraising Pledge Drive. Several youth from Watts joined Tony on-stage, where he led the effort and generated $43,500 in pledges for the project, which will be built in the shadow of the world-famous Watts Towers landmark.
