It’s the day skaters have been waiting for.
Vans, Jack’s Surfboards, and California Skateparks began construction of a 30,000 square foot Off the Wall Skatepark and Jack’s Garage skate shop with a ground breaking ceremony in Huntington Beach this morning. The park complex, expected to open in early spring, will be free to the public and features two lighted skate areas catering to both bowl and street skating, the Jack’s Garage combined with a skate park pro shop and snack bar, landscaped seating areas, restrooms and drinking fountains. Located on Center Avenue just east of Gothard Street, Off the Wall Skatepark design will combine street and transition features within the 30,000 square foot lighted park. It will feature a 15,000 square foot bowl area with a competition, backyard, and beginner bowl, and a 12,000 square foot street plaza with enough features to please every type of rider.
“Vans and Jack’s are both Orange County-grown originals and the Off the Wall Skatepark underscores our commitment to skaters and BMX riders in the area,” said Vans President Kevin. California Skateparks and Vans also share the same passion for skateboarding and have worked together on many projects including the Vans Combi Bowl Orange County, House of Vans New York, Maloof Skatepark Flushing Meadows New York, and the Maloof Skatepark Washington DC. California Skateparks designed the master plan for this entire project. Working to ensure this project made it to this point has been a yearlong task, but now that construction has started California Skateparks is thrilled to give the action sports capital of the world the skate park they deserve.
