The Tinnell Memorial Sports Park is Arizona’s largest skate park at 40,000 square feet. The sports park is dedicated to the sacrifice made by fallen soldier and bmx rider Patrick Tinnell, along with Colin Sasseen who lost his life skating in his front yard. In honor of Patrick we built a custom cradle in the shape of his army helmet and for Colin we did a large stained concrete “C” at the bottom of the stair set. The street course design is inspired by Street League Skateboarding’s “skate plaza-style” course skated by professional skateboarders at the 2013 X Games at Foz Do Iguacu, Brazil. The upper deck of the park has a backyard bowl, a competition flow course and wall ride around a palm tree. The course also features a skate-able pathway with a kicker gap. Shade structures were also incorporated for spectators and skaters to catch a break from the Arizona sun. This skate oasis has something for every level of skater, not to mention one of the most beautiful views of any skate park in the world!
